Forklift trucks are motorised vehicles used to move a load. They come in a variety of sizes types and are most commonly used to transport pallets to and from racking as well as load and unload delivery vehicles. They are often used in conjunction with compatible pallets known as ‘drive-through’ or ‘drive-in pallet racking‘.
The most common type seen in the UK has a cab, surrounded by overhead protective barriers, where the operator sits, controlling the vehicle using a steering wheel and levers. These types can be fuel or electric powered.
Other common types, such as a walkie low lift, have a standing platform where the operator stands to control the forklift. These types are primarily electric powered.
